Elizabeth Tanzi, MD, FAAD

Elizabeth Tanzi, M.D. is an internationally-known author and lecturer on cosmetic dermatology and cutaneous laser surgery. She is the Founder and Director of Capital Laser and Skin Care in suburban Washington, D.C. Dr. Tanzi graduated Summa Cum Laude with Honors in Biochemistry from Hartwick College in New York. She pursued her medical education at Syracuse University School of Medicine where she graduated in the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society at the top of her class. Dr. Tanzi completed her dermatology residency at Columbia University, St. Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York where she served as chief resident. Dr. Tanzi works closely with multiple medical societies to support the progress of dermatologic laser and device-based surgery. She served on the Executive Board as Secretary of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery from 2012-2015 after completing three years on their Board of Directors. She actively serves on the Development and Industry Advisory Counsel for the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Tanzi has published over 50 original medical articles and chapters and has been involved with the development of several new laser systems and therapeutic techniques that are now used routinely by physicians around the world. She is an annual invited speaker at the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. She actively serves as a journal reviewer for the Journal of Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, Journal of Cutaneous Laser Therapy, and The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and serves as an editor for Dermatologic Surgery. Throughout her career, she has received numerous honors and awards for her work in the field of dermatologic surgery including the Cutting Edge Research Grant from the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery Writing Competition, and the chairperson of the Dermatology/Plastic Surgery section for the American Society of Lasers in Medicine and Surgery Annual Meeting in 2006 and 2012. Her contributions to the field of dermatology and laser surgery have been featured in many media outlets including The Today Show, Good Morning America, ABC News, NBC News, CNN, Fox News, USA Today, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Washingtonian, O Magazine, Vogue, Allure, Elle, In-Style, Self, Health, and Cosmopolitan. Dr. Tanzi was inducted into the American Dermatological Association in 2020.

Brian Zelickson, MD

Brian D. Zelickson, MD is a board-certified Dermatologist currently practicing in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After finishing high school in Minneapolis, he attended the University of Colorado and obtained a BA degree in Molecular and Developmental Biology. During his collegiate career, Brian sacrificed his attendance at the Buffs football games in order to learn the high-altitude arts of brewing beer and alpine skiing. Brian then rejoined his native flatlanders to attend Mayo Medical School in beautiful Rochester, Minnesota. During his medical education, genetic influences started to take hold, and his interest in Dermatology began to surface. He performed a red-eyed internship at Hennepin County Medical School before returning to the Mayo Clinic for his Dermatology residency. After his residency, he spent a short fellowship learning immunoelectron microscopy techniques with Dr. RA Briggaman at the University of North Carolina. Dr. Zelickson then returned to Minneapolis to join his father in private practice. He is currently practicing dermatology at Zel Skin and Laser Specialists and is the CEO of United Skin Specialists. He is also more than happily married with two lively children. Dr. Zelickson has authored over 50 articles and several book chapters and became interested in lasers somewhere along the line.

Mara Weinstein Velez, MD

Dr. Mara Weinstein Velez is a board-certified dermatologist who completed a prestigious Laser, Cosmetic and Dermatologic Surgery fellowship at SkinCare Physicians in Boston with clinical faculty from the Harvard and Yale Departments of Dermatology. She received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University and completed her Dermatology residency training at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Weinstein has been invited to present at national professional meetings, published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and co-authored chapters in dermatology textbooks. Her health and beauty advise is prominently featured in magazines such as TeenVogue, InStyle and Redbook. She has been working in clinical research for over 6 years and has participated in multiple clinical research studies for state-of-the-art laser devices, minimally invasive cosmetic treatments, and acne medications. She is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) and the Director of Cosemtic and Laser Dermatology. She also serves as the DI officer for the Department of Dermatology at URMC.

DiAnne Davis, MD, FAAD

DiAnne S. Davis, MD, FAAD is a board-certified fellowship-trained cosmetic dermatologist practicing in Dallas, TX.

She completed her undergraduate education from Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, AL, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She also obtained a Master of Science degree in Cell & Molecular Biology from Tulane University. She then received her Doctor of Medicine degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences along with the Walter F. Rosen Award for Outstanding Student in Dermatology.

Dr. Davis completed an internal medicine internship and dermatology residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center where she served as chief resident. While in residency Dr. Davis was influential in coordinating the first Skin of Color Symposium helping to promote awareness of the unique features of skin of color from both a medical and cosmetic dermatologic viewpoint. Following residency, Dr. Davis graduated from an American Society of Dermatologic Surgery accredited cosmetic dermatology fellowship program under the directorship of Mark B. Taylor, MD at the Gateway Aesthetic Institute & Laser Center in Salt Lake City, UT.

She has expertise in skin of color, laser and light-based procedures, neuromodulators, injectable fillers, platelet rich plasma (PRP), sclerotherapy, body contouring, acne scars, laser blepharoplasties, and tumescent liposuction. Dr. Davis has authored several journal articles and textbook chapters, and has presented her work at local, regional, and national meetings. She is also the Co-Founder of Sunblock Kids which helps to bring awareness about the importance of sun protection at an early age. She has also served as an investigator on trials for Allergan.

Dr. Davis is a fellow of the AAD and ASDS, a member of ASLMS and WDS. Dr. Davis served as the resident liaison for ASDS, on the curriculum task force for the AAD, and has received scholarships for mentorship opportunities through the ASDS. She currently serves on the AAD Leadership Forum Workgroup & Media Expert Team, the ASDS Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion and Branding & Media Workgroups, and serves as Chair of the WDS Media Relations Committee. She is extremely passionate about mentorship and chairs the Mentorship program through the National Medical Association Dermatology Section and serves on the mentorship program for the Skin of Color Society.

Dr. Davis believes in a collaborative approach when it comes to helping her patients’ look and feel their best. Considering the aesthetic goals her patients want to achieve, Dr. Davis creates a comprehensive treatment plan utilizing advanced technology through the viewpoint of an artist (as a classically trained ballet dancer).

She is the daughter of the late Fred Davis, Jr and Sherill Davis and a proud native of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her interests outside of medicine include yoga and dancing, and she was previously a NFL cheerleader for the New Orleans Saints football team. She enjoys international travel, trying new cuisines, and spending time with her family and friends.

Paul Friedman, MD

Paul M. Friedman, MD, board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology, is the director of Dermatology & Laser Surgery Center of Houston, Texas, and also practices at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York. He was educated in dermatology at the New York University School of Medicine where he served as chief resident and was twice awarded the prestigious Husik Prize for his research in dermatologic surgery. He completed a one-year fellowship in dermatologic laser surgery and Mohs micrographic surgery & cutaneous oncology at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York and was the recipient of the Young Investigator's Writing Competition Award of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS). Dr. Friedman is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Texas Medical School, department of dermatology, and a clinical assistant professor of dermatology at the Weill Cornell Medical College, Houston Methodist Hospital. He is also on staff at Texas Children's Hospital and Memorial-Hermann Hospital-Texas Medical Center. Dr. Friedman is a fellowship director for the ASDS-accredited cosmetic dermatologic surgery fellowship training program and also serves as faculty for the Procedural Dermatology Fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Dr. Friedman has been a featured speaker of ASDS, the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS), and other national and international audiences. He recently served as past President of ASLMS and was awarded the prestigious Leon Goldman Memorial Award at the 2019 ASLMS Annual Conference. Dr. Friedman has published over 100 medical articles and book chapters and co-authored the book Beautiful Skin Revealed: The Ultimate Guide to Better Skin. He is co-Editor of the textbook Lasers and Light Source Treatment For The Skin and serves on the Editorial Board of the journal Dermatologic Surgery. He has been featured in numerous national media outlets and is a frequent guest on Doctor Radio’s Dermatology Show. Dr. Friedman has been recognized as a leading physician and researcher in the field and has also been involved in the development of several new laser systems and therapeutic techniques now commonly used throughout the world.

Shilpi Khetarpal, MD

Shilpi Khetarpal, MD is a fellowship-trained, board-certified dermatologist who is currently an associate professor in dermatology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. She completed her undergraduate and medical education through the accelerated, 6-year BS/MD program at Northeast Ohio Medical University. She did her dermatology residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and a fellowship in lasers and cosmetic surgery at SkinCare Physicians in Chestnut Hill, MA. Dr. Khetarpal has presented at both local and national professional meetings and has authored numerous book chapters in dermatologic textbooks and published many articles in peer-reviewed journals. She is actively involved in the Women’s Dermatologic Society, American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, Ohio Dermatological Association, and American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.

David Ozog, MD

David M. Ozog, currently serves as Chair, Department of Dermatology and holds the C.S. Livingood Chair in Dermatology, at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Michigan. He is also an active Mohs surgeon and Director of Cosmetic Dermatology. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan where he was a James B. Angell 4.0 GPA Scholar, completed post baccalaureate work at Bryn Mawr in Philadelphia and his medical degree from University of Rochester Medical School, Rochester, New York, where he was awarded AOA honors society. He completed his dermatology residency at Henry Ford Hospital, in Detroit, where he served as Chief Resident. His Mohs, Cosmetic and Procedural fellowship was with Dr. Ron Moy at UCLA Medical Center and Moy-Fincher Medical Group, in Beverly Hills, CA. He has published more than 90 articles and book chapters and has given hundreds of lectures nationally and internationally in various facets of procedural dermatology. His textbook, co-edited with Joel Cohen, Botulinum Toxins: Cosmetic and Clinical Applications, was published in 2017. Dr Ozog has directed sessions at the American Academy of Dermatology's annual meeting for several years. He was a member of the AAD coding committee, and he currently serves on the AAD Scientific Assembly Committee for a six-year term. He is scheduled to chair both Summer and Annual AAD meetings. He is also an editorial board member of JAMA Dermatology and an assistant editor of Dermatologic Surgery. His active research interests include cutaneous oncology, scarring prevention and treatment, botulinum toxins, as well as laser delivery for cosmetic and malignant conditions. He has trained more than 76 residents in dermatological surgery and was chosen by the residents as “Teacher of the Year.” Dr Ozog has taught hands on workshops nationally for the American Society for Dermatological Surgery, and he is co-director of the cadaver lab at Henry Ford. He enjoys biking and spending time with his wife Dawnmarie and their three children. Although his research group successfully pivoted to COVID work during the pandemic, he is thrilled to return to lasers and oncology, leaving spike proteins behind (hopefully forever).
